YOGASSAGE begins with a more slow paced Ashtanga class with in-depth personal postural analysis and adjustments. The goal of this class is to address the tension that we store in our bodies and aim to release it so we can go deeper into our postures. This requires extra individual attention and understanding past traumas, injuries or soreness.

This class caters to the needs of each individual. For instance, if you know your issue is pain and tension through the upper back and shoulders and it causes you to not be able to lengthen into a proper warrior pose, we working through the issue with yogassage techniques. It is similar to thai massage meets yoga and is done in the group class setting. The last half hour, each student is treated to the particular chosen massage focus of the day.

YOGAFLOW 1 is a good workout level 1 class where you will sweat. It begins as a led class, working through the traditional primary series of Ashtanga for the first half of the class. Then we move into a more independent prep mysore class where people will be taught how to practice through flow sequences themselves. This will leave time for individuals to practice any pose they choose in any order they choose at their own pace and the instructor will help with the postures and take images to track the student’s progress (if so desired).

We keep track of people’s progress in our student progress tracker where the student can enter in their own analysis. The next part of the class is spent in meditation and savasana or corpse pose for an extended rest. At the end of class we get together to discuss our experiences and share our knowledge and support of each other. 1.5 hrs

The second half is about finding the meditative groove with the music by doing the sun salutations to the beat of the music. You do not need to have done yoga to enjoy this class, as we go through the movements in detail. We finish this class with some restorative postures and meditation. 1.5 hrs

Ayurveda and yoga are sister Vedic sciences that have been united for thousands of years for the sake of healing body, mind, and consciousness. Generally speaking, Ayurveda deals more with the health of the body, while yoga deals with purifying the mind and consciousness, but in reality they complement and embrace each other.

The ancient rishis (seers) were the original masters of all Vedic sciences. They understood that good health is a great asset on the path toward Self-realization. If the body is neglected it can easily become an obstacle to spiritual practice. Anyone who has practiced meditation for any length of time would agree to how difficult it can be to sit still for long periods of time without feeling discomfort and fatigue. Both yoga and Ayurveda are mutually supportive and offer many ways to prevent and heal various disorders as well as to cleanse and rejuvenate the body.

Besides sharing a philosophical foundation, both systems have many similarities in relation to attitude, nutrition, diet, hygiene, exercise, cleansing practices, as well as spiritual practices. Traditionally, a student of yoga would first live close to and serve the guru for many years, during which time he would learn healthy habits. The basic Ayurvedic principles for health and longevity were past on in the lineage in oral form to serve as a foundation for a life of sadhana (spiritual practice).
